You spoke and we listened. With this Denali 4.2 release we’ve added lots of new features based on customer feedback. Keep those ideas and suggestions coming!
Set Up Advanced Reports in General Ledger
If you want to define custom report groups for the Balance Sheet, Income Statement (Revenue and Expense Report for Fund users), or the Budget Reports, you can use the GL Advanced Reports feature.
In the GL Advanced Report Group Codes window, you can select which General Ledger accounts you want to view on the reports and set up as many different combinations as your organization needs. After the Codes are defined, you can select them from the report window.
Use a Touch Screen to Enter Sales
If you use a touch screen monitor, you can now set up the POS Register window to accommodate your monitor. In the Sales Set Up Sales Entry Layout window, you can choose if you want your register window to display inventory item buttons and how you want those buttons to appear.
In the Sales Set Up Inventory Item Buttons window, you can set up all your stock item groups, the text and color of the item buttons, and the order you want the buttons to appear in the register window.
Detect Fraud with Red Flag Reports in Controller
In Controller, you can now access reports from other modules to help you track fraud quickly and easily. From the Reports > Red Flag Reports menu option, you can access the following reports:
- AP Control Report
- AP GL Expense Distribution Report
- AR Control Report
- BR Missing Check Report
- GL Reprint Posting Report
- IN Control Report
- IN Movement Report
- PO Open Purchase Order Report
- SA Price Variance Report
- SA Invoice Tracking Report
Expedite Order Entry
If you want to quickly enter customer charge orders without opening the Transaction Closeout window to tender each order, you can now save transactions directly from the entry window. With this option, you will not be able to use layaway or age verification. You can also choose to automatically log in with a default salesperson rather than log in each time you enter orders.
Copy Payroll Employees
If you have more than one Denali organization set up that uses the same employees, you can copy employees between organizations to save time.
Define an Order Entry Default Tax Code
If you want to define a default Tax Code for Order Entry, you can now enter one on the Defaults tab in Order Entry Preferences. This Tax Code will be use in all transactions unless you change it.
Define Payroll Project Codes
If your employees work on different projects that you want to track costs for, you can set up Project Codes. You can attach Project Codes to employee pay rates and when you process payroll, Denali tracks the units worked and amounts paid for each project.
Edit Salary Units in Payroll
In the PR Employee Management and Enter Units windows, you can now edit salary units per pay period for employees. On the Pay Rates/Taxes tab in Employee Management, the default salary units are based on the pay frequency you set on the General Information tab. However, you can edit the default units to match your organization’s units per pay period.
Also, when you open the PR Enter Units window from the grid in Prepare Payroll, you can adjust the Regular units for salary employees. Leave units you enter will subtract from the Regular units but the total pay will not change.
Import and Export Payroll Employee Records
In Payroll, you can now import and export employee records.
Renumber Payroll Employees
If you want to renumber an employee, you can use the PR Renumber Employee Records window.
Reset Year-To-Date Totals in Payroll
Every year between January 1 and April 1, after your year end tasks are complete, you must reset your year-to-date totals in Payroll to ensure your data remains accurate. This resets leave accumulators and increments the year end date in Module Preferences to the next year.
Search For Lookup Data That Includes Specific Characters
In the Lookups throughout Denali, you can now use the Contains field to search for specific data. Enter any alphanumeric character in the field that’s included in the data you want to see. You can search for data in any column that you can sort by in the Lookup window.
Track Multiple Customer Contact Information in Accounts Receivable
If you have customers with more than one customer contact, you can now enter multiple contacts on the Contacts tab in the AR Customers window. You can select the primary contact and this contact information appears in the header section of the window.
Use Gift Cards in Sales With Your Genius Device
If you use MerchantWARE Genius to process credit card transactions, you can now also process gift cards. In Sales Point of Sale Preferences, you can select MerchantWARE® Genius™ with Gift Cards from the Authorization Software drop-down to allow salespeople to enter gift card information or customers to swipe gift cards through the Genius device.
In the Sales Transaction Closeout window, select the Customer button to activate the Genius device for the customer. Other gift card options are still set up in the Gift Card Options window and the Sales Set Up Sales Entry Layout window.
Verify Check Cashing with Positive Pay in Accounts Payable
Positive Pay allows your bank to verify that checks they cash from your business are not fraudulent. You can create a file to send to your bank when you pay bills and the bank verifies that only checks in that file are cashed.
View the GL Impact Account Summary in Payroll
When you print the Transaction Edit Report in Payroll, you can now see how your General Ledger accounts will be affected before you post.

View the Payroll Department Codes Report
The Employee Department Codes Report shows you employee cost separated by the departments you select.
View the Payroll Taxable Wage Report
In Payroll, you can view the Employee Taxable Wage Report. This report shows you the wage amounts that are used to calculate taxes.
