Cougar Mountain Software is always integrating new tools to help CPAs fulfill their client’s needs efficiently and effectively. Two of our products, the PDF-eXPLODE e-Doc Generator and our SinglePoint dedicated server application, are just two of our most-recent efforts.
Debuted in the fall of 2006, our PDF-eXPLODE e-Doc Generator is one of our most useful software tools we’ve ever released. Once installed it fully integrates with any of our accounting, point-of-sale, and nonprofit software packages and helps reduce your printing, postal, and marketing costs by generating invoices, promotional materials, or other important documents into PDFs and delivering them instantly via email.
As an example, let’s say you need to send an invoice or report to a client. Once the document is complete, simply select the Print option under the File menu. Instead of sending the file to the printer, choose the PDF option in the dropdown selection window and press enter. The program converts the document into a unique PDF and distributes it to the email address you selected in the setup.
 This makes printing and postal costs obsolete. Printing, sorting, and postmarking business documents is a tedious task. Imagine the time and money saved by turning invoices and reports into PDFs and delivering them to client’s email inboxes without ever printing a piece of paper, stuffing an envelope, or licking a stamp. Users can share valuable information with several clients at one time with just the press of a button. This also eliminates the lag time of the postal service and translates into a faster turnaround time when receiving your payments.

The other nice thing about the PDF-eXPLODE e-Doc Generator is that you can turn documents into PDFs and save them to your computer—you don’t have to select an email address with every file. This allows you to create an electronic archive of important files on your computer or external hard drive. Think of the time you can save by avoiding the busywork of filing hard copies of documents and the office space you will free up by not having to buy another file cabinet. And since the PDF preserves the original appearance of the documents, you can reprint a converted file ten years from now and it will remain unchanged (the ultimate paperless office tool).

The SinglePoint solution is another Cougar Mountain tool that helps CPA practitioners. It’s a dedicated server that arrives with Cougar Mountain software pre-installed. Simply hook it into your system, assign it an IP address and you’re ready to go.
For CPAs, especially those working in an office where several users need to use the accounting software at one time, SinglePoint is a simple, secure way to control who has access to data. As you add an authorized user to the system the device sends them a link with password information via email. There’s no need to buy multiple licenses—up to 40 users may access the server.
 What CPAs find of most value however is the remote access functions. With SinglePoint any authorized users can access the software and documents remotely through a web interface. This allows users to work from home or on the road as long as a high-speed connection is available.
What’s more the server is monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In some cases a fault is detected before failure and you will be notified to correct it before the damage is done. However, in the event something does happen, rest assured your data is safe. The server writes information on two different drives at once so if one fails, the other continues to work.
Lastly you don’t have to worry about the server becoming corrupted with outside software programs. SinglePoint will only run Cougar Mountain’s integrated software products regardless of what’s happening on other users’ workstations.
