1) How much does Cougar Mountain Software cost?

2) What is 'integrated accounting'?
A fully-integrated accounting software offers you real-time solutions, reports and answers. Information is automatically shared between modules. Not only does it eliminate the need to enter information twice, but information entered flows seamlessly into all modules at once. There is no lag time. If you want to find out what stock you have on-hand, that information is readily available. There is no need to wait any period of time for that information, or export/import data from one module or program to another.
With Cougar Mountain accounting software products, each module is designed to share information and seamlessly flow from one to another. The information and the reports you need to see are immediately available.
3) How will CMS help me run my store better?
CMS integrates together the different aspects of your business so that you can achieve a real-time accounting solution.
What is integration? Cougar Mountain Accounting software solutions automatically shares information from one module to another. Therefore eliminating the need to enter information multiple times. Your sales, inventory, payroll, customers, vendors, bank information, and purchase orders are integrated together with your General Ledger to provide you with up to the minute business information.

5) How difficult is CMS to install?
Installation is very easy - because we offer professional installation services with your purchase!
We connect to your computer via the internet and only ask that you place the installation CD into the computer. If you do not have internet access, we will then walk you through the install service over the phone, or we also have technicians standing by all over the country who can come to your business, if needed.

11) I am using an older version of CMS - why should I upgrade?
While it is true that we still have customers using our original accounting product that was first released in 1982 (a DOS application), computers and software have come a long way since then. To obtain the maximum efficiency and productivity in your business, we recommend you stay current with each version of Cougar Mountain Software.
12) Will I lose my data if I upgrade?
No.
And before upgrading your software installation - we always recommend that you BACK UP YOUR DATA to ensure against any accidental data loss.
If youre software is current and you have enrolled in our Software Assurance plan, we will notify you of any new releases and send you to our software update page located on the Customer Center Support site. We do ask that you make sure all Microsoft Updates have been installed before uploading, but once you upload the latest release, no data is lost and you will be good to go. (If you do not have Internet access a disk will be mailed to you with installation instructions.)
If you are upgrading from an earlier version, most likely you will have to install the latest version. In that case we connect to your computer via the Internet and only ask that you insert the installation CD that is sent along with instructions. Or, if you do not have internet access we will walk you through the procedure over the phone. Or, we have technicians standing by all over the country who can come to your business to install.

16) What is the difference between CMS Professional and Denali?
- CMS Professional is ideal for small- to medium-sized businesses.
- CMS Professional allows multiple users on one network server.
- CMS Professional is full featured with the nine core modules integrating with one another, although not all are sold seperate.
- Denali modules may operate as a stand alone or integrate with one another.
- Denali is based on Microsoft SQL Server database technology, and provides for a more robust 'back end'.
- Denali allows for the installation to be spread across several different servers to achieve better performance.
- Denali is better suited for medium sized businesses.
17) Can Cougar Mountain handle credit card payments?
Yes.
We offer a full complement of solutions for all your credit card activities from hardware, to authorizer, to processor. Our select vendors provide you with the ability to use card readers, PIN pads, check readers, install payment processing, real time or batch transaction processing, split dial authorization and direct settlement option. Your Account Executive will fit you with the credit card solution to fit your business.
18) Does my third party software integrate with Cougar Mountain?
Although we work with a variety of third party vendors and partners offering additional services and products to help fulfill your business needs, Cougar Mountain Software does not warrant or endorse any software related product except those developed by and which are the property of Cougar Mountain. Third party solutions we work closely with and offer:
- Bartender Label Generator gives you the ability to control the look of the bar codes.
- Aatrix tax forms
- Fixed Assets a complete fixed asset depreciation solution that works with our Cougar Mountain FUND and FUND Suite products.
- SinglePoint dedicated application server offering local and web-based access, anytime, anywhere.
- Credit Card authorization solutions
- R&R ReportWorks∞ allows you to make changes to the printing of Cougar Mountain checks, invoices, statements and purchase orders.
19) Can more than one user work on Cougar Mountain at a time?
There are 2 overall options:
- With one license and one workstation you can assign as many users to access the Cougar Mountain product as necessary.
- Or, if you have multiple users at different workstations, then you need a multi-user license. With a multi-user license Cougar Mountain Software can be installed on all stations that might access the program (this could exceed the number of licenses purchased). However the number of licenses purchased determines how many users can access the software at the same time.
The cost and the number of multi-user packages per product line CMS Professional versus Denali -- vary.
With the CMS Professional product lines there is the ability to purchase a Single-user license, 2-4 Multi-User license and Unlimited Users.
Denali product lines offer a Single-User license, Two-User license, 3-5 Multi-User license and then it sells in increments of 5 Users.
Another option Cougar Mountain offers is the SinglePoint dedicated application server. This, too, offers license packages of Single- and Two-user licenses, 3-5 multi-user licenses, then sold in increments of 5. SinglePoint benefits offer web-based access, it has 24/7 system monitoring, the software comes pre-installed and is automatically backed up daily.

20) What is a multi-user license?
A multi-user license allows more than one workstation to access and use the software at a time. Varying packages are offered depending on which product line you are interested in CMS Professional product lines or Denali.

21) Is there a discount if I purchase additional licenses?

22) Will a different Payroll program work with Cougar Mountain Software?
Cougar Mountain Software does not warrant or endorse any software related product except those developed by and which are the property of Cougar Mountain.
However if that program has the ability to exchange data then it is possible to import that data into General Ledger.
If that program does not, then it must be done manually.
The beauty of using Cougar Mountain Payroll is that this program is fully integrated with the other Cougar Mountain features allowing information to seamlessly flow from one module to another. Therefore not only have you eliminated the need to enter information twice, but you also do not have to import any data.

23) Why would I need Specialty Shop?
Our Specialty Shop program works ideally for Tobacco, Beer & Liquor shops at point of sale and optionally links to your back office accounting. Program features are allowing your business to attach buydown/coupon codes, set up promotional pricing such as buy one, get one free, age verification at time of sale and multi-pack pricing individually or by the case.
24) What Cougar Mountain designed add-on products might I consider?
- Multi-location inventory an integrated solution to managing your inventory centrally even if your inventory is stored in multiple locations.
- Bank reconciliation is a strong integrated self-audit feature that reconciles bank statements to checks and deposits.
- Job Cost an integrated module that allows you to track your costs for a specific job.
- Advanced Bill of Materials allows you to define and sell finished goods made of several layers of subkits and components without actually having to build them first. This feature enhances the kit functionality of Cougar Mountain Inventory.
- Purchase Order offers superior tracking from initial purchases of goods and services until final payment is made on that item.
- CMS Ship for Fedex/UPS allows you to quickly and easily enter Cougar Mountain sales information in FedEx and UPS thereby eliminating human error in entering that information multiple times.
25) Does Cougar Mountain Software support Vista?
With the release of CMS Professional Version 12.1 and the Denali Version 2.6 release (July, 2007) products currently Cougar Mountain Software supports Vista Business with some restrictions. Click here for more information.

For CMS Professional products - with the release of CMS Professional Version 12.1 the following vendors supports Vista Bar Tender Generator, Fixed Assets, PCCharge Pro, R&R ReportWorks∞ Infinity and Single point.
For Denali products Crystal Reports XI R2, Smartpayments/TPI (GiveX), Bar Tender Generator, PCCharge Pro and Singlepoint.
