W-2s -- Nothing like waiting until the last minute!
Deadline crunches are never fun, and with only a few more days left in January, it’s time to make sure all your W-2s are filled out and filed. With so much to do, let us help lift some of the weight off your shoulders.
Cougar Mountain has partnered with Aatrix and now offers eFiling for your W-2s using CMS Professional Payroll. This is a quick, safe, cost-saving alternative to manually doing them—a perfect solution for anyone that’s waited until the last minute to file.
Filing W-2s has never been easier or more affordable. If you are a current CMS Professional Payroll user click here to sign up today for the Aatrix W-2 eFile service! Or call your Account Executive at (800) 388-3038.
Aatrix W-2 eFile Deadlines:
Complete Service Package – process, print and mail – W-2 information must be received by Midnight January 29th
- Express Service Package – process and electronic only – W-2 information must be received by Midnight January 31st
Aatrix will continue to process eFiling for the Complete Service after the deadline, however Aatrix cannot guarantee they will be postmarked by January 31st. Employee W-2s must be postmarked January 31, 2008 or the employer may be subject to penalties.
Next Stops for CMS Road Show!
We just completed our most recent CMS Road Show training event in Phoenix, AZ, and are moving full-steam ahead to the Gateway to the West--St. Louis (Feb. 5-8, 2008). If you’ve never received formal training on how to use your Cougar Mountain Software, or you’re looking to brush up on your skills, we invite you to join us for what is certainly setting up to be one of our most popular seminars to date!
Not only do attendees receive first-class instruction from one of our best staff trainers—Kevin Winston, but after hours and during the lunch break you’re free to explore one of the greatest historical cities in the U.S.!
Visit our website for more information on the St. Louis event or call an Account Executive at (800) 388-3038 to reserve a seat.
If you’re not able to make it to the St. Louis CMS Road Show, there are two other dates and locations you should check out.
The first week in March, 2008, the Road Show will make an appearance in Oklahoma City, OK. This is one location we’ve received a lot of requests for so here’s your chance! Visit our website for more information on the topics covered, hotel reservations, and costs, or call an Account Executive at (800) 388-3038.
Then in late April we’re moving the crew back to the West Coast for a pit stop in downtown Seattle, WA. For this Road Show event we’ve selected a venue within walking distance to all this great city has to offer like the Pike Place Market and the Space Needle Tower. Like the rest of our events this includes three information-packed days in the classroom with the option of a fourth, and the chance to network with other CMS users. Call an Account Executive today at (800) 388-3038 for more information!
Cougar Mountain in the New Year
As the first month of the year draws to a close we’d like to offer our thoughts on the direction of accounting software and how we are addressing it in 2008.
In 2008 the accounting software market will continue to mature and customers will be looking to replace an existing solution with something that allows them to leverage technology in ways that translate to a stronger competitive advantage and/or real business results.
Most accounting packages already have powerful functionality that is sufficient for most businesses, so the flash and power of new features has less and less appeal to a broader audience. Consequently customers are becoming more sophisticated and looking for complete solutions that can demonstrate a real impact on their business—not whichever product has the most bells and whistles. A product’s ease of use (especially if it has a familiar interface) will have more of an impact on purchasing decisions between packages that share the same basic features.
We have some big plans for the upcoming year to dramatically address ease-of-use and the look and feel of our Denali product line. In addition, as we roll out the Purchase Order module we will focus less attention on extravagancies that most customers don’t need and focus on delivering solutions that automate accounting tasks to enable small businesses to gain a competitive advantage never reached. In addition, we will also focus more energy on our support and training services since customers are beginning to understand that an integral part of leveraging software lies in the ability to get great training and support.
Cougar Mountain Software is committed to building great accounting software products and providing effective solutions to make our customers succeed. As 2008 progresses and we continue to build on our Denali lineup we hope you will continue to look to us to satisfy your business needs. Whether its product or service, our vision is to provide the utmost value to our customers and we will continue the 25-year tradition as we follow new technology trends and use our expertise to deliver the latest accounting technology solutions to our customers.

In the Spotlight
Every once in a while Cougar Mountain Software receives recognition in a journal or trade magazine that’s worth highlighting; this is one of those times.
In a recent issue of Accounting Today, writer Ted Needleman assembled a brief review of mid-range accounting software. Included in his write-up were a few thoughts on Cougar Mountain’s Denali lineup. Here’s a snippet and link to the full article.
“Denali is affordable enough to be a client's initial system, and will scale up without any more trouble than purchasing additional user licenses. That's perfect for a start-up that's expected to grow rapidly.”

Then, in the December, 2007, issue of Accounting Technology, Wayne Schultz tackled the question of why off-the-shelf fund-accounting software is not the way to go and included some features every non-profit needs to consider when looking for the right setup. Here’s a brief comment and link to the full article.
“Unique to Cougar Mountain is the availability of a wide variety of add-ons to increase functionality. Because organizations undergo constant change, it's important to have software that can expand. Modules are available for point-of sale processing (cash registers), fixed assets and payroll tax reporting.”
Cougar Mountain Software is constantly garnering kudos from industry professionals. Read past and present reviews on our awards page.
