What Would Happen If Your Computers Were Stolen

A recent burglary of an accountant office in Boise has united some downtown businesses in hopes of capturing the thief.  According to news sources the thief stole several laptops potentially containing client information.  One of the accountants’ customers, a downtown club (China Blue), has offered a reward for information that leads to the arrest of the perpetrator.

This type of crime, involving the theft of computer equipment, is a serious threat to accountants and bookkeepers, but also for any small business or non-profit.  What would happen if the computers in your office were stolen?  If you have implemented an off-site backup routine or are using a hosted (cloud) solution you would be able to recover your information and continue to operate.  If you didn’t have good backups or those backups were located on equipment within your office, this might result in serious business disruption and harm.

Cougar Mountain offers two solutions that will help organizations secure and protect their accounting information. First, Cougar Mountain offers a hosted version of the accounting system where you execute within a remote and highly secure cloud environment.  Besides the security of this solution, cloud computing offers many benefits including: access from anywhere, lower IT services and hardware costs, and financial benefits like monthly payments. More information about our cloud offerings can be found here.

We also offer an offsite cloud backup service: iVault.  This service securely backs up your information and provides an easy way to restore your business data if it is lost, corrupted, or worse: stolen.   Click here to review the features and pricing of the iVault solution.

Please spend a little time today to review your backup procedures and think about what your organization would do if your information were lost.  If that’s a question you can’t easily answer please let one of the Cougar Mountain business and account experts help your organization solve this serious problem.
